Paul Beckett's commissioned furniture was featured in the June 2002 Ideal Home Magazine for a kitchen table and chairs and lounge furniture.
A client in Chearsley, Buckinghamshire, requested a design for a bookcase and room divider using materials of Burr Elm and Macassar Ebony with glass and ebony display shelves.
The bookcase has a natural oil finish and then burnished with bees wax.
The chest was damaged due to flooding. Veneers had to be removed, pressed and dried. Then they were repositioned having been repressed using traditional glues. The veneers were then restained and polished to blend with the original walnut colour.
Superficial water marks were carefully removed with a french polish reviver and then burnished with bees wax.
The original polish was damaged by fire and not restorable. Grain filler and french polish was worked into the wooden surface until a high sheen was produced.
French polish was allowed to harden and then burnished with traditional bees wax.
